  Calvin Dijon Murphy is the second child born to Rachel Murphy of Boston, Massachusetts. His sister, Jerica, older by one a year, had a different father to Calvin but by the time he was born, his mother was happily married to his father, many years after they had been childhood best friends. Even though they were happy for a few years, by the time Jerica and Calvin were 3 and 4 respectively, the marriage had crumbled and not even their friendship had been salvageable. It left their mom a single mother with two young children. Living was a struggle on the very small income Rachael made working as a beautician at the local beauty shop, but she worked hard to make sure her kids were provided for, refusing to go on welfare, as her own mother had done in raising her and her brothers and sisters. When she sought out Jerica's father in hopes of receiving child support, he told her not to ruin his life, and that he had a family of his own to support now, with a son, even showing her a picture of an infant boy. But as it would turn out, he did in fact have a son, but had not seen him since he was born, choosing instead to relocate to Boston to live with his grandparents. Neither Rachael nor Jerica would ever hear from him again, as he once again moved on. Whilst life was a struggle, Calvin ended up on a different path to his sister. Where Jerica ended up on a rough road, mixing with drug dealers and dating a guy who would end up in prison for dealing, among other things, Calvin had a natural talent for dancing. He started quite young just dancing in front of the TV and his mom worked extra shifts to pay for some dance classes for him at a studio owned by a friend from his school, Ashley Emmerson. Calvin stuck with those lessons from elementary school right through to high school. His life soon became solely about dance, and especially when Jerica seemed to break off into her own world... a world Calvin had no interest in dabbling in for fear it might risk a chance of a professional dancing career. He worried about her, but she wanted to do her own thing. He knew he had no chance of stopping her, though he often voiced his sadness to her about the dangers of what she was involved in. It was through Ashley that Calvin met new Boston Bruins player, Kyle Peterson, one of Ash's closest friends, and the three of them ended up in a pretty tight friendship, despite the distinct differences in personalities. At the end of high school, with Ash law school bound and Kyle going strong with the Bruins, that Calvin's hard work paid off and he scored a prized scholarship to study Dance at Juilliard in New York. He was over the moon, and his mom was so proud that all her hard work had paid off and helped Calvin get on the path he dreamed of. It was at Juilliard that Cal met fellow freshman, Logan Hayes and he decided to dabble in a little matchmaking. Kyle was unashamedly gay, and Logan was also out and proud. He introduced them online one day, more out of curiosity than anything else because Kyle often pulled the piss out of him for his love of dance, and Cal returning the banter with a lack of interest in hockey. It was a match made in heaven, and without even keeping Cal up-to-date, Kyle and Logan had their first date in person after many lengthy chats online - and they hit it off immediately. The pair are now engaged to be married, and Cal often jokes that he is to thank for that, even though he knows it is all them. He is over the moon for them, and was devastated when Logan was seriously injured during rehearsal on a world tour as back-up dancer for New York born rockstar, Angel Shaw. Cal and Logan both auditioned, where Angel hand-picked his own dancers, where he chose Logan to be the principal dancer of the entire troop and Cal his second-in-charge. He also put his studies on hold for six months for the tour, and quit his job where he had worked as a dance teacher for kids in a small studio in Brooklyn. Logan's injury was a shock to the system for all the dancers, and reminded them how precious their gift could be... and how easily it could all be taken away. It was negligence on the part of the theatre the show was booked, and no fault on Logan's part, which made it even more devastating. Logan struggled to tell Kyle what had happened, telling him he was just staying in England a little longer with Cal to sightsee, when in reality, he was laid up in a spinal injury unit in Liverpool. Logan finally fessed up to Kyle, and they're all back in New York. Cal has resumed his studies at Juilliard and managed to get his old job back, but is still employed by Angel's management for larger shows. Cal and Jerica have a much closer relationship these days, even if they don't share the same father. Cal is a happy, laid back guy with everything but his dancing, which he takes very seriously. He is single and intends to stay that way for now, always teasing Kyle and Logan for being all domesticated. He's not really looking, and instead leads a very casual social life. He is bisexual and whilst he has dated on and off both sexes, nothing stuck due to his gruelling study/work/rehearsal schedule. He hooks up for stress relief and fun, but he's not a big drinker, wanting to keep his body in tip-top shape, enjoys clubbing, hanging out with friends, and forcing them to be his date to movies, being a huge action fan.
